COVID-19 Update

Santa Cruz County continues to closely monitor the spread of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus, and has implemented actions to help minimize the potential impact of the virus on our employees, customers and operations. Santa Cruz County issued a Public Health Order on March 16 requiring people to stay home except for essential needs.

Vulnerable populations are encouraged to stay home. Everyone should stay home except to get food, care for a relative or friend, get necessary health care, go to an essential job, or other essential need.

This order is in effect until April 7. It may be extended depending on recommendations from public health officials.

The County Clerk’s office will provide services by appointment ONLY.  Please contact 831-454-2060 to book an appointment.  The services include:
•    Marriage Licenses
•    Marriage Ceremonies - can be booked online
•    Notary Oath filings if the filing expiration date is imminent

Passport appointments will not be taken at this time. If it is an emergency, please call 1-877-487-2778 or call our office at 831-454-2060. For more information, visit the US Department of State's website.

Fictitious Business Name filings must be filed by mail at this time. Click here for the application and process.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone exhibiting signs of illness. We encourage customers to bring their own pens and wash their hands before and after visiting our office. Our staff are following public health guidelines of washing our hands often, cleaning work surfaces frequently, covering our coughs and sneezes, maintaining social distances, and staying home if we are sick.

Please contact us if you have any questions. For more information on COVID-19, call 211, text "covid19" to 211211 or visit County Health's website. Thank you.
